Once a year, on the 1st and 2nd of November, thousands of people; children, youth, adults, and elders visit the cemeteries and other burial grounds of the Carabayllo district to be reunited again with their dead loved ones, with those souls that at one time or another left this earthly world and today rest in eternal peace.
This report summarizes the actions executed and the goals met by Joining Hands Peru in the project entitled “Spirituality and Mission.” The project was conceived in order to develop a space of shared spirituality that would bring to life the work in our network in Peru.
When community groups were scrambling to help victims of the 8.0 earthquake on Peruvian coast, I was involved with many people who were trying to wrap their minds around relief plans. I heard conversations quickly evolve from search and rescue, medical supplies, food and water, and blankets to counseling, access, safe housing, water sources, livelihood, and sewage solutions.
